Remember that short film my friend Jeff made? The one I asked you to go vote for?
Well, he didn't make the top 15. Until yesterday!!
"The Doorpost Film Project is pleased to recognize filmmaker Ted Chung’s A Thousand Words as a featured selection of Pangea Day. The Doorpost believes with Ted that his work is deserving of this exposure, and we have therefore decided to release him from his obligation to the 2008 Doorpost Film Project competition.
As a result of this decision, filmmaker Jeff Guerrero’s Therapy will be now be included in the final round of competition. We congratulate Jeff on his accomplishment and are excited for his participation in the top 15!"
He's off to Nashville this weekend to receive his check. Winner of the next round receives $100,000 plus a private meeting with development studios for prospective film deals!
Go Jeff!!

My famous friend Jeff is featured in another movie-related publication, Backstage. It's a pretty terrific article about "accidental actors." His section is under "Chalk It Up."
Once Chalk became a hit on the festival circuit, word began filtering back to Guerrero that audiences were enjoying Mr. G. "They'd come back from festivals and say, 'People love you!'" Guerrero says. "It wasn't until I went to the Boston Independent Film Festival that I really heard the laughter. It was so rewarding — not just for me but to know people were getting the film and loving it."
I just held my first iChat with my friend Jeff (the Chalk guy). That was pretty cool. Seeing yourself is kinda scary though . . . It was nice to be able to hear each other. I pulled out my "guilt" tone on him about going home because his brother is having his first baby sometime soon-ish (she's been induced). They are so very close, he needs to go. And I'm pretty sure I "toned" him into it! :-)
That guy -- right there in that frame -- that's my friend Jeff!! In a movie trailer! For a real movie that is coming out this Spring!!
If the movie comes to a theater near you, please go see it the very first week.

Other characters found their way into the film along the way. Another teacher, the meticulous Mr. Guerrero, is played by Jeff Guerrero, who was also the film’s second assistant director. "We needed an extra guy in the teacher lunch [scene], so he’s in the first teacher lunch, and I’m sitting behind the monitors, and I’m just dying," remembers Akel. "This guy puts a little napkin in his shirt, I’m like, 'He is hilarious’...boom, a character was born. And that’s how stuff happened: We would just add people as we went."
I am so proud I could bust a button! I hired Jeff to work at my corporation -- it's hard to explain, but I just knew then there was something special about him.
My overnight male guest was my friend Jeff. Occasionally he calls out of the blue and asks if he can spend the night. He's in town today to shoot a Sears commercial.
He's sometimes a little begrudging about the commercial work, but it pays the bills while he works on other projects. Like Chalk. This is a now award-winning film looking for distribution. If you're in Los Angeles, you can check it out in the next week at the LA Film Festival. Jeff works behind the scenes and as "Mr. G." in the movie.
On a whim, I checked the Independent Movie Database and there he is!! I am so happy for him. And so proud that he followed his dream.
